A case study related to project management was assigned to our group.
The case was as follows:
One of the leading nutrition, health and wellness Multi-National Corporation, based in Switzerland with global IT shared services known as Global IT Service (GITS), located in Malaysia has embarked on a new project implementing a Global Direct Store Delivery system. The first phase will be concentrated to Asia and the implementation will be deployed to different markets. At present, sales information systems, its supported applications and software support maintenance is provided by local application vendors and regional offices. This has led to data redundancy where the sales data is often showed more than once just because the sales information system is implemented by every local office and sometimes the regional sales are same, thus wasting costs and resources devoted into this process. Development of applications from local vendors and providing support staff from regional offices has increased enormous support and maintenance cost in terms of capital and operating expenses. There is already a support infrastructure to provide IT shared services on a global level, known as Global IT Shared Services (GITS) which is currently not fully utilized or operational, therefore CAPEX and OPEX can be optimized for process improvement, resources and etc.
The project named (confidential) is initiated to reduce Capital Expenses (CAPEX) and Operating Expenses (OPEX). This will be done by developing one application for Sales Information System which would be centralized and operated on global scale. Its data would be centralized and linked directly and stored to servers located at the Headquarter in Switzerland. GSIS will replace all the locally developed applications and provide access privileges to all regional office staff.

Was appointed as a project manager over this simulated case study along with other 4 members acting as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). I developed a project charter which was later presented and approved by the module tutor to proceed with the submission of report.
